I hate creating seating charts it rarely makes things better, but a really good inservice is hard to come by.

If I had to choose, I think I'd pick make a new seating chart.

Wait time is so important!

It can be tough at first because we want to fill the silence with something, but if you wait, it will give your students time to process the material and question before answering.

If you are quick to fill the silence, or call on the one student that is always willing to answer, your students will learn they don't have to engage.

If you are struggling with wait time, I would encourage you to count slowly to 10 before continuing. Calmly restate the question and encourage students to think, then call on a student.

It is not always easy and will take some practice, but it is so worth it!

If you are a classroom teacher, you are going to have rough days, but if you learn to take step back, let go of what you can and approach each day with a fresh start, your rough days will be less.

I can't always let things go, I'm human and some behaviors are tough. But when I learned to let the little things go it made my life easier.

✏️It used to bother me when students didn't have pencils, but when I started handing out pencils instead of getting upset, it took that stress out of my day.
